BioConnect Wellness Declaration Solution Integrated Into MaRS Innovation Hub

Biometric authentication technology company BioConnect and Toronto-based innovation hub MaRS Discovery District have announced the successful integration of BioConnect’s Wellness Declaration Solution (WDS) in the MaRS facility in downtown Toronto.

BioConnect was selected by the Federal Government in early October, 2020, to supply the MaRS innovation hub with a contactless solution as part of the country’s response to COVID-19. The WDS is a simple solution that can be deployed rapidly to a facility or workforce via employees’ mobile devices, and can be managed easily and remotely by administrators.

As economies around the world search for safe and efficient ways to reopen their doors to employees, tennants, contractors and customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, health tracking solutions like BioConnect’s WDS offer a solution to many of the issues businesses face.

On September 26, the Province of Ontario government released a mandate stating that every Ontario employer is required to do daily health checks of all employees returning to work. As BioConnect’s WDS can be integrated with a facilities card access system, it makes implementation simpler and quicker as employers look for a rapid solution to reopening under the new Provincial regulations.

The WDS works by having the user download the BioConnect app, and when they seek entry into a building employing the WDS system, they will receive a ‘health status step up’ mobile authentication request to confirm their current health status.

Notifications are sent once per day, and users report any symptoms or COVID-19 test results to the WDS. Entry is either granted or denied depending on the outcome of the survey.
