BioConnect has picked up the prize for the Best Emerging Technology at the 2020 ISC West New Product Showcase. The accolade recognizes BioConnect’s Unified Mobile Access Solution, which is also known as Bioconnect Link.
With BioConnect Link, employees can use mobile authenticators on their smartphone to gain access to a physical location. In that regard, the solution is geared primarily towards large enterprises, and is compatible with a number of leading mobile authentication platforms, including Duo, PingID, and Okta. BioConnect Link can send step up requests directly to an employee’s device, and can be deployed without replacing the organization’s existing cards or access control readers.
“Trusted access is critical to the safety and wellness of enterprises,” said BioConnect Chairman, Founder, and CEO Rob Douglas. “BioConnect Link’s approach to adding higher security at any access point without a requirement to modify existing infrastructure changes the options for facility managers.”
BioConnect Link debuted earlier in the year, and was even featured at a BioConnect Virtual Trade Show shortly after the onset of COVID-19. BioConnect has since updated the platform to better respond to the ongoing pandemic, introducing a mobile Wellness Declaration Survey that employees can fill out to track their health. Employees will need to fill out the Survey to gain access to their workplace, and may not be able to enter if they do have symptoms of COVID-19, or if there is a chance that they have been exposed to the disease. The system also creates an auditable log to ensure that the appropriate safety measures are being followed.
BioConnect launched a BioConnect Cares initiative in the early days of the pandemic to provide organizations with free or discounted facial recognition services. ISC West was originally scheduled for March, but was eventually pushed back to October due to public health concerns. Despite those precautions, the organizers recently announced that the security trade show will be an entirely virtual event.
