“Being selected into the MaRS Momentum program is truly incredible and is exactly the support we need to scale BioConnect’s Trust Platform globally.” -Rob Douglas, Chairman & CEO, BioConnect.
Toronto-based biometric identity management specialist BioConnect has been selected to participate in prominent Canadian accelerator program run by the MaRS innovation initiative.
According to MaRS, its Momentum program is aimed at helping high-growth companies that are on track to reach more than $100 million in revenues. To that end, Momentum offers participants access to a community of C-suite executives who may be able to help, as well as assistance with growth, sales, marketing, PR, and regulatory matters.
The program is funded in part by the Government of Canada, through Southern Ontario’s Federal Economic Development Agency.
It’s the latest sign of institutional support for BioConnect, which has generated considerable excitement through its biometric approach to physical and logical access control. Last September, an innovation-focused government federal funding vehicle called FedDev Ontario committed to contributing up to $3.9 million to fuel BioConnect’s ambitious growth plans.
In a statement announcing BioConnect’s participation in MaRS Momentum, BioConnect CEO Rob Douglas expressed his enthusiasm about what it means for his company’s expansion plans.
“BioConnect’s mission is to enable trust in the connected world,” he said. “Being selected into the MaRS Momentum program is truly incredible and is exactly the support we need to scale BioConnect’s Trust Platform globally.”
The news arrives just a couple of weeks after BioConnect won the prize for Best Emerging Technology in the 2020 ISC West New Product Showcase.
