Genetec and BioConnect have joined forces, with the former’s security platform integrating the latter’s biometric identity solution.

It’s likely to prove a good fit. Genetec’s Security Center offers video surveillance, automatic license plate recognition, access control, and IP communications applications; BioConnect’s eponymous platform, meanwhile, supports a range of modalities for biometric authentication, which could offer some appeal to Genetec’s clients. Moreover, both companies have already worked together in the past on access control projects.

In a statement announcing the integration, BioConnect CEO Rob Douglas said it “delivers the latest technology in a proven, scalable, fully integrated biometric system with enhanced security”, while Genetec VP Andrew Elvish lauded its “world-class biometric access control hardware”. Both executives emphasized its applications in the financial services sector.

With BioConnect working with Visa on post-password authentication solutions for mobile devices, it may be able to leverage a heightened profile in the financial services market to promote the Genetec integration.
