BioConnect Adds Consent Tracking to Enterprise Trust Platform

BioConnect is continuing to improve its flagship BioConnect Trust Platform for enterprise security. The latest version of the solution will be released in July of 2022, and will come with updates for both the BioConnect Enterprise and BioConnect Link components of the platform.

According to BioConnect, the newest version of BioConnect Enterprise will make it easier for organizations to comply with international data regulations like GDPR and the Biometric Information Privacy Act in Illinois. BioConnect Enterprise 5.1 specifically comes with a new User Consent Tracking utility that ensures that everyone registered with a platform has in fact consented to the use of their biometrics.

Other new features include Excel User Import, Two-person Authentication, and OSDP support for second-generation devices from Suprema, which is a long-time BioConect collaborator. BioConnect Enterprise 5.1 will also notify administrators whenever a door is held or forced open to provide advance warning of possible security breaches.

BioConnect Link 1.4.2, meanwhile, introduces dedicated Key and Safe Cabinet solutions to extend mobile security to smaller storage areas. It arrives shortly after the company’s acquisition of MedixSafe, which specializes in storage cabinets for the medical industry. The BioConnect Link solution is compatible with a number of different mobile credentialing solutions (including the HID Mobile Access solution), and it allows organizations to adopt mobile credentials without needing to replace their existing access readers.

BioConnect Enterprise 5.0 debuted in October of 2020, and went on to win a New Product Showcase Award at ISC West the following year. The company itself believes that the majority of businesses will be doing business in regions that require consent for biometric data within the next three years, which creates some urgency with regards to privacy compliance.
