BIO-key is trying to make its PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service platform more user friendly with the release of an updated Admin Panel. The Admin Panel allows IT departments to manage their organization’s security posture from a single centralized location, which in turn allows them to reduce costs while closing any security vulnerabilities.
In that regard, administrators can use the Admin Panel to manage all of the users with access to their organization’s network, and to set access permissions for each of those individuals. In doing so, administrators can ensure that only those with the proper clearance are able to gain access to particularly sensitive information.
The Admin Panel can also be used to generate reports, and to view an auditable record of access control events. PortalGuard itself comes with Single Sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication capabilities, which gives IT teams the ability to set extremely granular security policies for different aspects of the organization. For example, security professionals can integrate corporate applications into the organization’s SSO framework, or set stricter authentication requirements for people who are logging in remotely.
Administrators can access the Admin Panel through a web browser on any standard computer and mobile device. The platform can be used to create a Zero Trust security ecosystem, and can do so while minimizing both financial costs and the workload on the IT department. With that in mind, BIO-key is pitching PortalGuard as an affordable option for organizations that want to strengthen their security posture in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As it stands, the majority of cybersecurity professionals believe that they do not have the staff they need to implement an effective security policy. The improved Admin Panel arrives shortly after the publication of a report that found that 48 percent of organizations believe that a lack of resources is one of the key barriers preventing them from switching to a Zero Trust model.
“With limited IT resources and the significant gap in available cybersecurity talent across all industries, most organizations are struggling to figure out how to do more with less,” said PortalGuard President Mark Cochran. “The inspiration for the next generation of our admin experience was consistent customer feedback seeking solutions that are easy to manage, flexible, efficient, and can empower the IT team.”
BIO-key has provided PortalGuard services for multiple government agencies and academic institutions. The company has credited the platform for its strong performance in its most recent quarterly report.
