BIO-key’s TouchLock TSA Biometric Padlock for Luggage Unveiled at Travel Retail Expo

BIO-key‘s latest hardware products have made their debut at this week’s TFWA Duty Free & Travel Retail Global Summit in Cannes, France. The company’s retail travel partner, Travel Retail Distribution Group, has used the occasion to unveil its TouchLock TSA biometric padlock for luggage.

The luggage padlocks follow the introduction of BIO-key’s standard-size biometric padlocks earlier this year. First announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, those devices have already come to make up a substantial proportion of BIO-key’s overall hardware sales, according to its Q2 report.

The heavy-duty luggage padlock, for its part, has been approved by the TSA for use at airports and on cruise ships. It uses an IDEX fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication, and each unit can enroll up to 20 different fingerprints, allowing one padlock to be shared by a group of friends or family.
