BIO-key has sealed a deal with a major new distributor in the Middle East and North Africa, the company has announced. Its new partner is Arthur & Co., a Morocco-based technology provider.
The partnership will see BIO-key’s biometric authentication solutions marketed to enterprise and government clients in Arthur’s regions of operation, where BIO-key’s management team sees major potential opportunities. In a statement announcing the partnership, BIO-key asserted that there is rising interest in biometric access control and identity management solutions in the UAE, and cited market research indicating the Qatar will offer a growing market for biometric security in anticipation of hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
BIO-key CEO Mike DePasquale said his company’s team has “noticed a measurable increase in the number of inquiries that we are receiving for software and hardware solutions in MENA.” Meanwhile, Arthur & Co. CEO Nasraddine Riah pointed out that the World Bank has “urged Morocco to identify a new biometric identification system to combat fraud,” pointing to another specific opportunity in the MENA region.
If these markets live up to their promise, they could prove to further enhance BIO-key’s rising revenue streams going forward.
