Fingerprint biometric identity solutions provider BIO-key International has announced that Jim Skidmore has joined the company and been appointed as senior vice president of global sales.
A graduate of Susquehanna University, Skidmore brings with him an extensive background in technology and security, most recently acting as the vice president of the Solutions Group with Encode, a software and hardware reseller. In this previous role he was responsible for increasing Encode’s revenue, eventually helping it reach a value of $20 million.
“We believe, based upon his leadership skills and industry knowledge that Jim can have a similar impact at BIO-key,” remarks Mike DePasquale, CEO of BIO-key.
Now, as a member of BIO-key, Skidmore will be focussing on driving revenue and developing his sales team, as well as management and expansion. According to the announcement, this will be done with a keen eye on identity and access management in addition to healthcare, a market identified by researchers as primed and ready for biometric solutions such as those offered by BIO-key.
“We’re extremely excited about incorporating Jim’s talents along with his ability to extend BIO-key’s partner footprint by leveraging his twenty plus years of existing business relationships, within the security industry,” commented DePasquale.
Jim Skidmore also comes well decorated: having received a number of awards from big names in IT and security including Oracle, IBM and Microsoft among others.
As it was for many fingerprint biometrics companies with mobile offerings, 2013 was generous to BIO-key, which achieved a milestone in its financial standings near the year’s end. After closing a $3.7 million private placement in November, the company announced that it was in its best financial position in years. With this new addition to the team signalling an aggressive sales posturing as the gates open on 2014, in addition to BIO-key’s clear intentions of bringing its better BYOD and mobile biometrics solutions to healthcare – a vertical that is in dire need of them – it is apparent that the company has entered the new year with great resolve.
