BIO-key is looking to expand its PortalGuard clientele through a new partnership with NGEN LLC. NGEN is a Maryland-based IT service provider, and will be making the PortalGuard access management solution more readily available to its customers in the government, commercial, and academic sectors.
The new relationship is already starting to pay dividends for BIO-key. NGEN generated its first PortalGuard customer through its Maryland Education Enterprise Consortium (MEEC) contract vehicle, bringing the Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) platform to an unnamed academic institution with more than 14,000 individual users. PortalGuard offers multi-factor biometric authentication, with Single Sign-On capabilities to streamline students’ digital experiences. In that regard, the solution allows users to log in once to gain access to multiple applications.
“At many higher education institutions, it becomes more challenging to maintain a strong IAM program as the complexity of the organization grows, especially when an organization adds more cloud-based applications,” said NGEN President and CEO Terry Speigner. “PortalGuard IDaaS is a flexible IAM solution that allows our customers to easily deploy robust enterprise security with scalability and redundancy built-in to improve their overall security posture.”
NGEN will operate as a member of BIO-key’s Channel Alliance Partner Program (CAPP), which debuted in September of 2019. The CAP Program acts as a distribution network for BIO-key’s various biometric security solutions.
“We are actively onboarding new technology, reseller, and managed service partners across North America and abroad to CAPP, based on the growing need for cloud-hosted IAM solutions, and we expect accelerated growth in the program this year,” added PortalGuard President Mark Cochran. “Engaging with channel partners allows us to leverage our respective strengths and to increase our engagement opportunities with a broader base of end customers.”
Thus far, PortalGuard has proven to be extremely popular with academic institutions. Some of BIO-key’s other recent clients include Marion College, San Juan College, and Eastern State Florida College.
