BIO-key will be looking to extend its reach thanks to a new partnership with Darksteel Technologies. Darksteel is based in Orlando, and is a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) that primarily provides security services for small and medium-sized operations.
The new arrangement will allow Darksteel to offer BIO-key’s PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) solution to those smaller enterprise clients. PortalGuard offers support for multi-factor authentication and multiple biometric modalities that can enable strong access control for employees logging into physical workstations and essential software applications.
On that front, PortalGuard comes with a Single Sign-On utility that allows people to gain access to multiple applications through a single login portal. Employees can also use PortalGuard to reset their passwords on their own, without needing to put in a call to the IT department. In doing so, the solution can help reduce costs for smaller organizations.
“We needed a solution that can fit many of our varied customer needs,” said Darksteel Managing Director Carlos Cisneros. “We were impressed with BIO-key’s wide variety of multi-factor authentication (MFA) options for our customers to choose from to secure access to their desktops and applications.”
“We are pleased to add Darksteel Technologies to our community of MSPs and MSSPs who use our PortalGuard platform as their identity security solution for customers,” added BIO-key CRO Fred Corsentino. “We were very impressed with the expertise and professionalism of Darksteel Technologies and feel confident that their customers are in good hands.”
PortalGuard has won a Govies Government Security Award and a Fortress Cyber Security Award in the past few months. The solution has proven to be particularly popular in academia, and in portions of the public sector. BIO-key has delivered the service for several counties since the start of 2022, and continued to add to its extensive roster of university-level clients.
