Veteran-owned digital security company 2FA, Inc. has sealed a deal to license BIO-key’s fingerprint authentication solutions. The agreement will see BIO-key’s technology incorporated into the 2FA ONE Authentication platform.
According to 2FA CEO Greg Salyards, his company decided to partner with BIO-key “after months of due diligence to find the best-of-breed biometric authentication suite to support our current and future customers.” Of particular appeal to 2FA were the BIO-key solutions’ NIST certification and their one-to-many identification capabilities, as well as BIO-key’s newer low-cost USB fingerprint scanning devices. Now, the agreement will help to deliver these solutions to 2FA’s 2.5 million end users, with 250,000 of those in the public sector.
The deal should help to further boost BIO-key’s profile in the wake of its publicity-grabbing 12-city tour with Microsoft, acting as that company’s exclusive biometric technology supplier in connection with the Windows Hello security system of Windows 10. The licensing agreement could also help to generate a healthy new revenue stream. Commenting in a statement, BIO-key SVP Jim Sullivan said his company is “thrilled to welcome a company with 2FA’s track record of success to our list of innovative customers,” adding that his team “look forward to working with 2FA to bring this solution to their sizable existing customer base.”
