BIO-key continues to gain traction in the government sector. The company has revealed that Audrain County in Missouri has become the latest jurisdiction to adopt its PortalGuard Identity and Access Management solution for its employees.
The Audrain County deployment will come with support for BIO-key’s WEB-key biometric authentication platform. The technology will allow the County to decouple end users from their devices, in the sense that WEB-key uses biometrics to confirm someone’s true identity, and not just the device they happen to be using when they log in.
That remains true whether employees are working on-site or remotely. In that regard, County administrators highlighted PortalGuard’s scalability and flexibility as a key factor in its procurement decision, noting that the solution can provide coverage for a hybrid workforce and help the county comply with its cybersecurity insurance obligations.
“Today’s cyber and data security threats are tomorrow’s insurance claims,” said PortalGuard President Mark Cochran. “All organizations must take proactive steps to implement a modern IAM solution that is both effective and compliant. Our growing base of county government customers validate that PortalGuard and WEB-key offer the best blend of advanced security capabilities with the flexibility that organizations require to meet their compliance requirements without negatively impacting the user experience.”
Audrain is the second county to overhaul its authentication pipeline with PortalGuard in 2022. BIO-key announced that it delivered the solution for New York’s Herkimer County in the first week of the year.
The news also indicates that BIO-key’s efforts to reach out to local governments are bearing fruit. The company showcased PortalGuard at the National Association of Counties Conference in July, and then went on to provide the solution for the Orange County Elections Office in Florida roughly one month later. BIO-key has credited PortalGuard for sustaining its core business during the pandemic.
