BIO-key Wins Business from ‘World-Renowned’ Defense Ministry

BIO-key has completed a big new order from a government client.

In a statement announcing the deal, BIO-key did not name the client in question, referring to it as “the cybersecurity group of one of the world’s most respected government defense ministries”. The client ordered and deployed biometric software and hardware from BIO-key that is designed to secure access to IT assets based on the Microsoft Windows operating system: More specifically, the WEB-key server-based biometric management platform is being used together with BIO-key fingerprint readers to protect the client’s Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure.

BIO-key says the order is valued at $257,000, and that it “is expected to lead to additional opportunities as the solution is deployed more broadly.” For now, the initial order will impact BIO-key’s Q1 revenues.

The order comes not long after a previous government sector order from Canada’s Province of British Columbia, which also revolved around BIO-key’s WEB-key platform. Commenting on this latest public sector deal, BIO-key executives emphasized the high standards of the new client, with SVP of Strategy and Business Development Jim Sullivan asserting that the customer “is world-renowned for its cybersecurity expertise and standards,” and CEO Mike DePasquale adding, “We are proud to have been selected by this highly sophisticated customer as their trusted biometric security provider.”
