“The U.S. launch of our TouchLock Bike padlock line via Amazon builds upon the excitement and sales momentum we have already initiated in Asia. We are excited to extend the reach of this product into the U.S. where we are optimistic about the sales prospects for the upcoming holiday season.” – Mike DePasquale, CEO, BIO-key
BIO-key is bringing its biometric bike lock solutions to America, and is having Amazon deliver. The e-commerce giant is to be the first retailer in the country to offer TouchLock Bike FP, TouchLock Bike BT, and TouchLock Bike Pro.
First launched at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, BIO-key’s bike lock solutions support different kinds of biometric technology for user authentication and unlocking. TouchLock Bike FP has a built-in fingerprint scanner, while TouchLock BT uses Bluetooth technology to pair with a mobile app in order to enable unlocking with a smartphone fingerprint scan or facial recognition; TouchLock Bike Pro, meanwhile, supports both approaches.
BIO-key has been most actively promoting these solutions in the APAC market, with Japan-based bicycle maker Asahi Cycle Co. teaming up with the company at the end of spring as a reseller of the TouchLock Bike products.
In a statement announcing that TouchLock Bike would come to the US via Amazon, BIO-key CEO Mike DePasquale said the development “builds upon the excitement and sales momentum we have already initiated in Asia,” adding, “We are excited to extend the reach of this product into the U.S. where we are optimistic about the sales prospects for the upcoming holiday season.”
