BIO-key has announced the formal launch of its PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) offering. The solution is designed to help companies with their digital transformations, and to give them the tools they need to adapt to any security environment.
In that regard, the cloud-based PortalGuard IDaaS is fully scalable, and offers support for 14 different authentication options, including biometric authentication. The platform is compliant with virtually all of the latest federation standards, and with all of the major user directories and authenticators.
BIO-key noted that COVID-19 has kickstarted the remote work ecosystem, creating an urgent need for security solutions that can protect workers in any location. The company believes that PortalGuard will help meet that demand. PortalGuard allows organizations to outsource hosting responsibilities, reduce administrative overhead, and update their security systems as new features become available.
“IAM technology needs to be flexible, available everywhere, and highly reliable,” said BIO-Key CEO Michael DePasquale. “This launch demonstrates our continued investment in market-leading SaaS and biometric innovation to provide customers with greater security, value and flexibility when they need it the most.”
“We’re expecting that the total cost of ownership will prove to be lower, since the burden of hosting and maintaining the solution is no longer on us,” added David Ayersman, the VP and CIO at New River Community and Technical College. “With SaaS, we’re also expecting that as new features become available, we’ll be able to get them without delay.”
PortalGuard has become an integral part of the BIO-key portfolio since the company acquired the platform in June. The solution has already been used to process millions of authentication requests, and has proven to be particularly popular with academic institutions. BIO-key recently partnered with Prominic to bring PortalGuard to the US Department of Defense, and provided authentication capabilities for the Government Services Agency.
