Today, fingerprint biometrics and secure authentication company BIO-key International announced that it has entered into an Application Specific Licensing (ASL) agreement with Avnet, a global IT solutions distributor. The deal will see IBM middleware integrated with BIO-key software. The aim it toward accelerating sales to customers in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
BIO-key chairman and CEO Mike DePasquale explains, “Avnet’s ASL Program is an IBM channel, administered by Avnet, which is aimed at increasing the revenues and profits from middleware usage for Business Partners who provide value-added solutions and services to their customers. This underscores the strength of our software integration relationships and since we now have executives from Avnet and IBM who are dedicated to our mutual success we believe it will create revenue potential in multiple vertical markets.”
According to Mark Martin, vice president of Outside Sales for Avnet Technology Solutions, IBM Solutions, the newly signed ASL agreement will provide BIO-key with a faster route to market. “When solutions such as BIO-key are embedded in IBM Middleware, it eliminates the complexity of two support structures for their customers, while continuing to provide the full resources of IBM Support Services,” says Martin. “We look forward to being part of the ASL program and how it will accelerate the sales cycles for our business partners, and provide continued growth.”
BIO-key -a company specializing in fingerprint biometric identification technologies and secure on-device or in-cloud mobile credentialing and identity verification solutions – has been in the news recently with its latest hardware offering, the EcoID USB fingerprint reader, which is aggressively priced in an aim toward accessibility. This new agreement with Avnet similarly caters to the demands of end-users in terms of accessibility.
