“Kristel has a demonstrated track record of exceptional customer service, a critical factor for us as we expand into new markets.” – Mike DePasquale, CEO, BIO-key
BIO-key has acquired a new distribution partner that could further extend its reach in the African market.
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Kristel Communication Ltd. will offer BIO-key’s PortalGuard identity-as-a-service solution as well as its biometric fingerprint scanning solutions through its reseller network across Kenya and other parts of East Africa. The company also counts Bitdefender and Endpoint Protector among its other cybersecurity partners.
Now, the company is part of BIO-key’s Channel Alliance Partner program, and Kristel CEO Ben Obinju is enthusiastic about how BIO-key’s solutions fit into his firm’s portfolio, and how they can address market demand.
“Our experience with selling cloud-delivered security solutions will be critical as we introduce the PortalGuard platform to our customers,” he explained in a statement announcing the partnership. “Our customers expect a reduced total cost of ownership by moving to a SaaS model of delivery since the overhead burden of hosting and maintaining the solution is no longer necessary. Many of our customers, such as those in financial services will also take advantage of the integrated biometric solutions that BIO-key offers.”
That bodes well for BIO-key’s broader efforts in the continent. The company recently announced its initial shipment of biometric software and hardware pertaining to major contracts secured in Nigeria last year with the country’s Ministry of Labour and the Technology Transfer Institute of Africa.
“Kristel has outstanding experience selling cybersecurity solutions in Kenya and other countries in East Africa,” commented BIO-key CEO Michael DePasquale. “They have developed a strong reseller network throughout the region and provide excellent support, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.”
The partnership’s announcement comes on the heels of the news that BIO-key had received a $1.2 million follow-up order concerning its biometric security support services from a client it described as a Fortune 500 telecommunications industry company.
