“NuData is using its native understanding of EMV 3DS to reinvent security for merchants by building safer, smarter ways to verify online transactions.” -Ryan Wilk, VP of Customer Success, NuData
NuData is highlighting how its behavioral biometrics technology can be used to boost transaction approvals through EMV 3DS, EMVCo’s “3-D Secure” specification for mobile- and browser-based transactions.
The great advantage of NuData’s technology is that it can run continuously in the background of an online session, offering passive user authentication. It’s designed to assess patterns in a given user’s behavior, looking for aberrations that signal when fraudulent activity might be in play. As such, it can help to catch fraudsters even when they’re using the correct credentials; meanwhile, the experience for legitimate customers can run unimpeded, with no need for extra authentication actions on their part.
That all bodes well for merchants taking advantage of EMV 3DS, especially given that NuData’s parent company, Mastercard, is one of the co-creators of the specification as one of the five members of EMVCo. As NuData Customer Success VP Ryan Wilk explained in a statement announcing NuData’s EMV 3DS support, “NuData is using its native understanding of EMV 3DS to reinvent security for merchants by building safer, smarter ways to verify online transactions.”
And given that NuData won a 2018 FinTech Breakthrough Award in the category of “Best Fraud Prevention” earlier this year, the company has an even more compelling case to make.
