Spanish technology firm B-FY will introduce its new Authentication-as-a-Service (AaaS) solution to the U.S. market at the Identity Week event in Washington, D.C. The solution, already introduced at Identity Week in Amsterdam, is designed to combat online identity fraud by focusing on identifying individuals rather than merely verifying credentials.
B-FY Onboard turns an app into a secure access key for both web-based and physical services. With B-FY, companies can enable users of their app to authenticate themselves across all platforms using a process involving a QR code scan and biometric verification. By integrating a decentralized, passwordless biometric authentication protocol, B-FY aims to eliminate the anonymity that enables cybercrime, which, according to BF-Y, has led to global losses of $14.58 trillion in 2024 alone.
The solution has been successfully piloted in Spain and Mexico, and B-FY is now expanding globally.
B-FY has invested over €35 million in research and development to create the new solution, with its biometric protocol having applications across various sectors, including healthcare and financial services.
Identity Week recently published a pair of reports addressing critical topics in the identity industry: deepfakes and biometric border control. The first report explores efforts by biometrics firms like iProov and Sumsub to detect deepfakes, with insights into regulatory developments such as the EU’s AI Act and anti-spoofing assessments by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
The second report examines biometric border control, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s biometric initiatives and the EU’s Entry/Exit System, alongside contributions from international bodies like the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and FRONTEX.
Identity Week America will be taking place next week, from September 11-12 at the Walter E Washington Convention Centre in Washington, DC.
