Aware Promotes Biometrics VP to Chief Commercial Officer

Aware, Inc. has announced another high-profile executive appointment, with a longstanding employee being promoted to the position of Chief Commercial Officer.

Robert M. Mungovan has been with the company since 1997, when he came on as its Sales and Marketing Manager for Biometric Software. In 2000, Mungovan took on the position of Aware’s VP of Biometrics, overseeing the development of sales, engineering, and R&D teams and the expansion of Aware’s solutions portfolio.

Mungovan’s promotion comes after the appointment of former IDEMIA North America CEO Bob Eckel as Aware’s new CEO last month.

Commenting on his appointment in a statement, Eckel highlighted Mungovan’s “expertise and industry knowledge”, which will be leveraged in the new position to drive strategic growth. “Over the past several years, Rob has played a key role in the development of Aware’s biometric software business and we look forward to his continued efforts in promoting our leading biometric software solutions in the government and the commercial markets,” Eckel said.

For his part, Mungovan expressed excitement about the promotion and pride in Aware, suggesting that he anticipates a bright future for the company. “I’m proud of the great work the team at Aware has done in developing industry-leading biometrics software solutions for governments, system integrators and solution providers worldwide,” he said. “We are well positioned to bring our biometric solutions into the government and commercial markets as more and more entities are recognizing the role biometric software solutions play in improving their operations and relationships with their customers, users and employees.”
