The US automotive voice recognition market is growing, according to a new report. Entitled “Voice Recognition Market for the Automotive Sector in the US 2015-2019”, TechNavio’s report predicts that the sector will enjoy annual growth of 7.36 percent (CAGR) between 2014 and 2019.
TechNavio’s report asserts that most cars in the US already feature voice recognition technology, but that technological advancements are driving up demand for expanded capabilities and applications such as navigation. The main functions of voice recognition systems in automobiles are for ‘infotainment’ and security, and those often go together: Allowing drivers to take calls hands-free can help to reduce accidents, according to a National Safety Council report cited by TechNavio. Expanding such technology to voice control over the car’s music system and the like could further help to improve safety.
Earlier this year, TechNavio released a report that predicted even higher growth for the voice recognition market as a whole (at 9.4 percent CAGR for 2015-2019), and noted that automotive integrations would play an important role in that growth. With some advanced automotive voice recognition systems already available and luxury car makers eager to integrate smart technology into their new models, the predicted trend does seem to already be playing out in the industry.
