AuthSignal, a provider of passwordless multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions, has announced a partnership with MATTR and Qualcomm Technologies to develop the Palm Biometrics Identity Experience (IdX) Terminal. The joint solution combines Mobile Driver’s Licenses (mDL) compliant with ISO 18013-5 standards with palm biometrics to enhance identity verification, payments, and access control.
The IdX Terminal expands AuthSignal’s digital identity offerings by extending its use from online to in-person interactions via trusted devices. The technology integrates MATTR’s mDocs Proximity Verifier SDK for secure mDL verification and leverages Bluetooth for simplified, privacy-focused credential checks. Qualcomm Technologies supports the solution’s deployment, providing underlying hardware capabilities to enable reliable and scalable performance.
MATTR has been actively involved in the development of mDL infrastructure, as seen in its collaboration with Austroads to deliver Digital Trust Service capabilities in Australia. The partnership aims to harmonize the digital credential landscape, supporting secure verification of mDLs across jurisdictions.
Designed to securely bind ISO-compliant mDLs with palm biometrics, the Palm Biometrics IdX Terminal offers applications such as contactless age verification for regulated industries, access control for secure facilities, and integrated payment initiation capabilities. The software can be white-labeled and deployed to compatible Android hardware, allowing businesses to integrate it with existing systems for payments, loyalty programs, and access management.
The launch builds on AuthSignal’s earlier collaboration with AWS Marketplace to expand its capabilities in passkeys, passwordless authentication, eKYC, and biometric solutions. By integrating palm biometrics with mDLs, AuthSignal, MATTR, and Qualcomm Technologies are targeting industries requiring robust authentication methods, such as financial services, regulated industries, and high-security environments.
