“There’s no question about it, we’re no longer in the startup phase of this industry, we’re in the rapid growth phase.” That’s SecuGen VP Jeff Brown‘s take – just the start of it, really – on the question of whether interest in biometrics is growing.
The quote comes from our interview with Brown on the ISC West show floor in Las Vegas, where FindBiometrics President Peter O’Neill had the opportunity to speak with the SecuGen sales executive on Day One of the show. SecuGen is on hand to promote its new Hamster Pro 10 fingerprint scanning device and its U10 sensor, both of which are notable for their extremely compact design. But that’s not all that SecuGen is showcasing: As Brown points out, the company is also taking the opportunity of ISC West to offer a sneak peak of a new Bluetooth device that is “still a few months away” but already “getting a lot of interest”.
From there, the discussion turns to the aforementioned explosive growth in the biometrics industry, the “fantastic” year that SecuGen has experienced, and Brown’s predictions for where the industry in general is headed, which entails ongoing mainstreaming of biometric technology along with an extending breadth of the technologies’ applications.
