AT&T Healthcare is looking to improve the patient intake experience through a new strategic partnership with LifeMedID and Elo. The new joint solution will blend Elo’s interactive technology with LifeMedID’s authentication software.
The result will essentially be a digital self check-in kiosk for clinical centers. It will be built with a 15 or 22-inch I-Series touchscreen computer from Elo, which can be placed on a counter or on a free-standing floor stand. The devices can be configured with the Elo Edge Connect system or with a standard USB.
Once everything is set up, clinics can add a series of attachments to perform other functions, such as an EMV payment terminal or a biometric scanner for face or fingerprint recognition. The solution will be able to verify the identities of patients during check-in, and facilitate the creation of electronic medical records. At the same time, it will negate the need for paper forms during patient intake and reduce the administrative burden on healthcare providers.
“The LifeMedID and Elo solution can help our healthcare customers realize immediate gains in patient satisfaction and evolve for future needs as the consumerization of the industry grows,” said AT&T Healthcare Industry GM Rod Cruz.
“Ensuring fast and accurate patient identification enables consumer confidence in the completeness of their digital health record,” added LifeMedID CEO Rick Resnick.
In addition to identity verification, patients will be able to use the new system for insurance information, payments, and appointment scheduling. Any peripherals can be swapped out and updated as technology continues to improve.
Of course, AT&T is not the only company working to improve clinical procedures. Nuance recently released an Ambient Clinical Intelligence solution to address the problem of doctor burnout, while NextGate has highlighted the issue of poor patient matching. LifeMedID’s patient identification solution has previously been deployed at clinics in Brunswick, Maine.
