ZKTeco’s Mask and Thermal Detection Added to Video Alert System

Arteco has partnered with ZKTeco to add temperature and mask detection to its own NEXT video event management software solution. NEXT is a platform that consolidates events recorded with third-party devices like surveillance cameras, and then issues an alert whenever it observes something that warrants a response.

With the new ZKTeco utility, Arteco customers can now add fever and mask compliance to the list of events they’d like to watch for. ZKTeco is the developer of the SpeedFace+ line of access control readers, which includes the SF1005-V and SF1008 models. The company added IR thermal sensors and mask detection to the SpeedFace line in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic to help venue operators enforce health and safety guidelines and watch for people who might be infected with the virus.

By integrating SpeedFace into the NEXT platform, Arteco and ZKTeco will be able to send a notification whenever the reader spots someone with an elevated temperature, or whenever it notices that someone is not wearing a mask. The platform then creates an auditable record of each incident.

SpeedFace is compatible with other visitor management and attendance tracking systems. It also comes with facial recognition to provide users with biometric (and contactless) access control.

In addition to the augmented SpeedFace readers, ZKTeco has released a new standalone infrared thermometer that can be used to take people’s temperatures in high-traffic areas like shopping malls and schools. The company is currently in the final days of an online exhibition that kicked off back in June.
