Access control all around the world needs upgrading, and thanks to innovations in identity management technology it is finally able to reach the next step. In Jakarta, Indonesia, ZKTeco has helped make this happen, announcing an office building deployment that features a biometric reader in order to manage access to the elevators.
The Wisma BSG building contains five personnel elevators and a separate lift for the receival of deliveries . ZKTeco’s client needed a solution to help manage access and permission for workers and visitors, and chose the ZKAccess 6.0.
The solution includes a visitor management system and elevator control, able to register and allocate permissions, data storage and manage reports.
Wisma BSG’s building is now able to efficiently manage its elevator system, locking out unauthorized personnel by design. An employee’s registered identity is tied to the floors and elevators that they are cleared to use. If a person isn’t registered in the system, their options are severely limited.
Biometric readers are optional for this kind of deployment, which otherwise operates using ID cards. Visitors are required to register their identity at the reception desk before proceeding to the elevators. Once registered their name photo and permissions are saved in ZKAccess 6.0.
With this deployment, another real life application of physical access control to our list of locations that have chosen next gen security for their critical areas.
The ZKTeco EC10 – which is being used for the elevator management – has been the subject of a number of potential applications recently. ZKTeco has offered up the possibility of expanding this to a more consumer-facing deployment: using the EC10 to manage garage doors.
