ZKAccess has announced a new biometric access control solution that support multimodal authentication.
Called ProBio-ID, it’s designed to be configured with door locks in just the same way as a keypad or card reader can be installed. The device offers facial recognition via a built-in camera, and supports fingerprint recognition. It can also read RFID cards, supports PIN entry, and can be configured to operate using any combination of these security mechanisms.
In a statement announcing the new solution, ZKAccess also suggested that the device represents an advancement in the company’s fingerprint recognition technology, with the new SilkID technology offering “superior accuracy and speed matching.” And according to its online listing for the device, the SilkID system has an “outstandingly high identification rate towards dry, wet, and rough fingers,” as well as a “live finger detection” capability.
With spoofing being a rising concern in the security industry, that liveness detection and the multimodal options of ProBio-ID could help to heighten its appeal in the market.
