Ottawa-based Zighra has launched a new continuous authentication solution. Called SensifyID, it’s “the first patented solution to run advanced machine learning and behavioral authentication algorithms entirely on-device”, according to a statement announcing its launch.
The platform’s launch comes soon after Zighra announced its first US patent toward the end of this summer. It’s aimed at using a range of data collected from a device to enable passive user authentication. Behavioral biometrics pertaining to things like how the user swipes and taps on a mobile device are assessed, as is data pertaining to the device itself, with some “network intelligence” thrown into the mix, as well.
It’s an approach that has also been embraced by the likes of Visa and Google, with a range of incidental data thought to offer an even more comprehensive user profile than more specific authentication factors. As Zighra CEO Deepak Dutt explains, SensifyID establishes for the user “a unique, personalized cognitive profile that cannot be stolen or altered by humans or bots.”
Given the growing interest in this kind of approach to user authentication, and the growing concern around digital security after major data breaches like the recent Equifax fiasco, Zighra might find a lot of interest among attendees of next week’s Money20/20 event in Las Vegas, where it will be showing off SensifyID from booth 647.
