Vodafone has named Morpho (Safran) its Supplier of the Year for 2015. The distinction comes via the telecom’s yearly event honoring its best supplier partners.
Explaining the choice of Morpho for the award, Vodafone Procurement Company CEO Detlef Schultz said its “pioneering SIM card technology supports our continuous drive for delivering greater benefits and technological progress to our customers.” Meanwhile, Vodafone Group Terminals Commercial Director Florian Lissmann praised Morpho’s approach to security with respect to the company’s SIM technology, which he called “a critical element” of Vodafone’s network security. “Morpho’s support for our dedicated GUSIM program means that Vodafone has the best controls in place to address threats faster and in a more structured way.”
The accolades come at an opportune time for Morpho as the company seeks to build its presence in the mobile sector. It recently announced it would be developing a biometric onboarding program for India’s largest MNO, and has also taken on other large-scaled contracts to provide mobile identity and security solutions for government partners elsewhere in the world. Morpho executive Yves Portalier also recently pointed to sophisticated SIM card technology as a key area of focus for the company as it continues its mobile push, so this latest endorsement from Vodafone should help to further burnish the company’s credibility in this area.
