Safran Identity & Security‘s facial recognition technology has been integrated into Uni-ID Technology’s authentication platform, the companies have announced.
Uni-ID is a China-based Lenovo subsidiary offering authentication solutions to organizations ranging from banks to ISPs. Its head, Henry Chai, happens to be the Chair of FIDO’s China Working Group, and as such is naturally interested in FIDO-compliant solutions like Safran’s.
Commenting on the integration in a statement, Chai asserted that the partnership with Safran “on FIDO-compliant face recognition has greatly enriched our approach to biometric authentication solutions,” adding, “It is also beneficial for FIDO to be implemented on more devices in the Chinese market.”
News of the integration comes quickly after Safran’s announcement that it has enhanced its Selfie-Check facial recognition solution with a new liveness detection feature, an improvement that could appeal to more organizations as the Uni-ID partnership helps to raise the profile of the company’s face biometrics.
