Though ISC West is not, in name, a conference exclusively for biometric technology, there can be no denying that strong authentication and new identity management technologies are the pinnacle of physical access security. Biometrics of all modes have relevant and important applications in the areas that ISC West exists to put the spotlight on.

A perfect example of the many ways that biometrics fit into the world of physical access control is the Morpho (Safran) product line that will be showcased at booth 8089 at next week’s ISC West conference.

Lets take a look at what Morpho is promising to show off next week and explore the many modes of biometric physical access control:

Iris Recogntion

Morpho has a long distance iris recognition technology designed for high throughput environments. Contactless and fast, the company’s iris solution can work from a distance of four feet. This is ideal for densely populated deployments, and especially useful in time and attendance tracking.

Facial Recognition

Facial recognition is very flexible in terms of physical access control, and Morpho’s lineup reflects this. Next week at booth 8089 there will be live demonstrations of the company’s intelligent video based facial recognition which can bolster security feeds by actively scanning all recorded faces and comparing them to a submitted watch-list. If a match is found on a person of interest, security can be immediately notified.

The Morpho 3D Face Reader, on the other hand, uses facial recognition as a lock for critical areas. Once again, optimized for high traffic environments, the 3D Face Reader is contactless and accurate, even in non-ideal lighting conditions.

Mobile Biometrics

Even physical access is being swept up in the mobile revolution. Morpho’s recently released biometric tablet is multimodal and secure: It sports a seven inch touchscreen, an FBI certified PIV-IQS fingerprint reader, a high resolution camera and NFC capabilities. With applications in law enforcement and elections, the MorphoTablet is also ready to be integrated into a security system offering device-as-credential capabilities thanks in large part to its NFC features.

Fingerprint and Vein Biometrics

Of course, the finger can’t and won’t be left off of this list: it’s a staple and icon of biometrics in general, and when you talk about a market as demanding of versatility as physical access control, you know it’s going to be represented.

At ISC West, Morpho will be showing off its Fingerprint + FingerVein technology as features in MorphoAccess VP. Both biometrics are measured through a single sensor, offering multi-biometric security with half the associated costs of deployments (in both time and money).

MorphoAccess SIGMA will also be available to peruse. A fingerprint based biometric access and time reader that is backwards compatible with legacy Bioscrypt and Morpho installations.
