The US Department of Defense’s Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has awarded Precise Biometrics (via a channel partner) a framework agreement for Tactivo, the biometrics company’s smart cases for mobile devices. According to a statement from Precise, the contract is for a base year with the option of two additional years. It will be worth a minimum of $120,000 and can reach a total potential value of $3,100,000.
Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson commented on the latest arrangement: “We are delighted that the Defense Logistics Agency has decided to expand its user base and make a major implementation of Tactivo. The solution makes it possible to take advantage of existing PIV/CAC infrastructure as it is today, and go mobile while ensuring a high level of security. There are a wide range of mobility solutions with Tactivo available today, and we believe this major implementation will further increase the interest in going mobile with Tactivo”.
With a current user base of 5,500, the DLA intends to further rollout a Tactivo secured email and Internet browsing solution on iOS devices. The DLA expects that the user base will expand to include an additional 13,000 people. DLA has already placed the first Tactivo order in this framework via the aforementioned channel partner. The first order includes Precise’s iPhone 6 solution and is worth 850,000 SEK (USD 104,898).
This is not the first contract Precise has signed with the US DoD. In December 2015 and this past February, the DLA placed large orders of Tactivo readers.
