South Korea-based biometric security developer Suprema has won an award for its fingerprint-scanning access control system. The scanner, BioEntry W, has won ‘Best Product’ at the All-Over-IP Expo in Moscow.
The system is designed specifically for IP access control, and is ideal for outdoor settings, with the ability to withstand harsh environments. It offers an IP65-rated structure, and also features PoE functionality.
The award comes to Suprema at a great time, market-wise. Governments around the world are increasingly interested in biometric technology for security purposes, and indeed are the main market drivers; while there’s plenty of interest in adopting this technology in the private sector as well, even for everyday business purposes such as employee attendance tracking. It’s also an increasingly competitive market, of course, and in accepting the award, a Suprema executive noted that the company would target the Russian and CIS region “even more aggressively as ‘Best Product’ in global biometrics based security.”
