SecuGen to Showcase UN20 Serial Sensor at ISC West

Fingerprint biometrics technology specialist SecuGen plans to show off its UN20 Serial sensor at next month’s ISC West 2016 security conference, the company has announced.

First announced at the end of last year, the UN20 Serial is the first device in SecuGen’s new Unity Biometric Development Platform (BDP) line. Running on an open Linux OS enabling third-party customization, the UN20 Serial is aimed at the OEM market. It features a 1GHz processor, it is FAP 20 certified, and SecuGen says it’s offering the device “at an amazingly low price.”

In a statement, SecuGen executives highlighted the open development platform that the UN20 Serial offers, which Sales and Marketing VP Jeff Brown said makes the device “unique in the industry.” Engineering VP Dan Riley, meanwhile, asserted that the device “is not just a sensor, it is an entire development platform,” adding, “The uses for this product are nearly limitless.”

The UN20 Serial was recently showcased at the RSA 2016 conference, alongside the company’s other major new product, the Hamster Pro fingerprint reader.
