The 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is less than a month away, believe it or not, and it looks like we can start to expect even more biometrics vendors and solutions than we saw last year’s event.
Today, SecuGen Corporation announced that it will be heading to Las Vegas for CES in January and bringing its two newest fingerprint sensors with it. Both the U20 and the SDA04PX biometric sensors, which are described as low cost and high quality, will be showcased by SecuGen who will be manning booth 36821 at the major industry event.
“Fingerprint sensors are being deployed in increasingly diverse environments and must be able to capture great images time after time without any degradation,” says Dan Riley, SecuGen’s vice president of engineering. “We are very excited to be offering very high quality devices in in a variety of form factors.”
The U20 USB fingerprint sensor is certified by the FBI with both FAP 20 and PIC certifications. It’s particularly compact, but that doesn’t hinder its ability to capture very high quality images. The U20 is being positioned as ideal for implementation in mobile devices and other situations where space is a premium.
Meanwhile, the SDA04PX is designed to bring biometrics to situations in which USB connectivity is not available. Connecting to a system via a serial interface, the SDA04PX can store up to 10,000 fingerprint templates in addition to being particularly durable. SecuGen asserts that it has been made affordable so it can be used in large scale deployments.
SecuGen’s products are offered worldwide through an extensive network of reseller partners.
Dan Riley, Vice President of Engineering for SecuGen said, “Fingerprint sensors are being deployed in increasingly diverse environments and must be able to capture great images time after time without any degradation. We are very excited to be offering very high quality devices in in a variety of form factors.”
“We are working every day to provide the world’s best optical fingerprint technology,” says Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen. “We are always looking for ways to provide our partners with state of the art products and tools. We are excited about our ability to offer these small yet very high quality OEM sensors to our partners around the world.”
SecuGen was in the news at FindBiometrics recently with the launch of its new Hamster Pro Duo/CL – a biometric reader that combines contactless smartcard reading capabilities with the U20 USB fingerprint sensor.
