New laptop devices from Samsung feature built-in fingerprint sensors care of Fingerprint Cards. The 13.3″ and 15″ models of the Notebook 9 devices each use the FPC1025 sensor model.
The integrations will let users take advantage of the Windows Hello biometric authentication system built into Windows 10. While the Notebook 9 aren’t the first devices to realize such aims by featuring embedded fingerprint sensors, they are very prominent pioneers of what may be a very popular hardware feature in the future.
The integration announcment arrives soon after FPC’s Q3 update in which CEO Christian Fredrikson noted that PC integrations offered an obvious opportunity for the company in terms of expansion.
The integrations are a big win for FPC. Commenting in a statement, Fredrikson said the Samsung partnership “shows our ability to expand into new segments,” and called it “an important milestone for Fingerprint Cards.”
