Safran Identity & Security‘s SVP of Strategic Project / Continuous Improvement, Didier Sérodon, has been appointed as Eurosmart’s president.
Based in Brussels, Eurosmart is a global consortium describing itself as the ‘voice of the smart security industry’. Founded in 1995, the organization has been an advocate of IT security standards in European standards, contributing to regulatory efforts like Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/650 on digital signature devices.
Commenting on his plans as the organization’s new head in a Safran media release, Sérodon suggested that the security issues emerging with the Internet of Things will be a major focus. He also said that the organization is planning “an event in the European Parliament on cybersecurity vs user convenience,” with an eye to helping European Commission members to reassess the 2002 ePrivacy Directive, and to offer guidance as they consider other issues like electronic IDs and regulations concerning payment services.
Sérodon succeeds previous Eurosmart president Timothée Mangenot.
