Today, iRuggy Systems announced the launch of its latest rugged tablet, the iRUGGY G10 10’’ Mobile Tablet. Featuring modular design—made possible by mix-and-match ADD-f(x) modules—and built for heavy-use deployments, the iRUGGY G10 boasts the option of including a biometric fingerprint reader module.
In addition to the fingerprint reader module, the iRUGGY G10 can be upgraded with smart card reader modules (MSR and EMV certified), an RFID scanner, and more. The flexibility and durability of iRuggy’s latest mobile device makes it ideal for retail and hospitality applications, enabling mobile point of sale and designed to withstand frequent use. It will be showcased at this week’s Computex 2016 conference in Taipei.
“We engineered the iRUGGY G10 to be versatile,” says Mark Wallace, executive vice president, iRuggy. “The ADD-f(x) modular design allows us to continue expanding the suite of vertical applications supported and offers a future upgrade path for our customers.”
The iRUGGY G10 fits into a larger trend of tablets aimed at vertical markets which feature biometric capabilities. Just last week, at the ID4 Africa conference, Credence ID launched its CredenceTAB mobile biometric tablet, and Samsung also recently announced an iris scanning tablet intended for national ID applications in India. Furthermore, just last year, rugged mobile device manufacturer AMREL launched a tablet that can be easily upgraded to feature a two-finger biometric scanner.
