RSA, the security arm of computer data storage company EMC, has integrated EyeVerify technology into its RSA Adaptive Authentication Software Development Kit. The SDK now features Eyeprint ID capabilities for mobile apps.
This means that EMC clients will now be able to develop custom mobile security solutions leveraging EyeVerify’s flagship, eye vein biometric technology, which recent studies have demonstrated to be highly accurate on new mobile devices. As increasing amounts of data are stored online and accessed via mobile devices, this could prove to be a highly valuable extra layer of security for EMC client organizations. In a statement announcing the integration, RSA Senior Manager Angel Grant explained that as “users continue to demand convenient access to mobile, web and SaaS applications, organizations are seeking solutions that provide that convenience without sacrificing security,” and “Eyeprint ID gives organizations and their end users a simple authentication option to help secure mobile transactions.”
While RSA stands to benefit considerably from being able to offer this new capability to clients, the integration is also a boon for EyeVerify, furthering solidifying the company’s credibility in the area of digital, mobile security. The company has enjoyed a rising profile in this area in recent weeks as CEO Toby Rush has called for the development of a “Payment Grade” security standard for mPayments, and discussed eye-based biometric security at a major Alibaba conference.
