Last week we published an interview with JENETRIC CEO Roberto Wolfer. Fresh from the recent Global Identity Summit in Tampa, where JENETRIC held a high profile launch party for its new mobile livescan tech, the conversation with Wolfer examines the importance of true mobility in vertical markets. Meanwhile, online money transfer service Fonmoney integrated HooYu for security purposes, and in doing so embraced biometric authentication.

Fingerprint Cards announced last week that its business developer, Johan Carlström, has left the company as of October 15 to pursue entrepreneurial commitments. The company also announced its by-now-expected smartphone integrations, including the first from new client SK Telecom. The integrations and executive departure are in line with FPC’s very active year, which will be discussed at the upcoming conference call scheduled for the end of October, when the company will go over its Q3 results.

New reports of exploding smartphones caused Samsung Electronics to halt sales and exchanges of its iris scanning Galaxy Note7 handset. It wasn’t all drama in the realm of mobile biometrics, though. 360 selected Oberthur to provide the secure element to its Q5 and Q5 Plus smartphones, Precise Biometrics saw its software ship on a new handheld thanks to its partnership with Synaptics, and a new patent from Microsoft illustrated new ways for biometrics to improve mobile user experience.

It was a week of milestone celebration in the realm of national ID. Safran Identity & Security announced that it’s issued over 10 million electronic IDs in Chile, and NEC Corporation was celebrating the 2016 milestone of India’s Aadhaar program having surpassed a billion enrollments. Meanwhile the National Police Directorate of Norway selected Gemalto for the country’s eID project.
