Coolpad fits perfectly into a larger trend that has seen numerous Asia-based OEMs look to FPC for their smartphone fingerprint sensors, establishing a strong base for the latter’s business.
Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has seen another integration with a repeat customer. Coolpad’s new Quan Mo Wang smartphone features an FPC1025 fingerprint sensor.
It’s the same model of sensor that wound up in Coolpad’s previous smartphone, the Coolpad Shine, which launched just a few weeks ago. The OEM’s enthusiasm for smartphone fingerprint sensors seems to have started this past summer when it became one of the first smartphone makers to bring that kind of biometric technology to a lower-end mobile device, the Dazen Note 3.
Now, it’s evidently a fan of FPC’s technology – and it isn’t the only one. Coolpad fits perfectly into a larger trend that has seen numerous Asia-based OEMs look to FPC for their smartphone fingerprint sensors, establishing a strong base for the latter’s business. And with the surging interest in smartphone fingerprint sensors, FPC has seen a business boom, and lately has been exploring opportunities with smartphone makers in the US and Europe, though customers like Coolpad will probably continue to keep FPC’s business operations firmly rooted in the Asian region.
