“MABIS’s fingerprint, facial, and iris recognition technologies are all managed through a BioSSL software platform…”
UK-based QiSQi Identification Solutions has announced a new device that it says is the first mobile phone to feature embedded fingerprint, facial, and iris recognition capabilities.
The firm calls it MABIS, for Mobile Automated Biometric Identification System. Its fingerprint recognition is based on Diamond Fortress software, which uses not a sensor but the phone’s camera to capture fingerprint images, and QiSQi says it is MINEX-compliant.
MABIS’s fingerprint, facial, and iris recognition technologies are all managed through a BioSSL software platform, and QiSQi says the biometric technologies use “military and police-grade algorithms with proven track records,” according to a statement on the company’s website.
The device runs on an Android operating system, which should help to ensure a certain level of interface familiarity for end users, and QiSQi is aiming it at the border control and police market sectors.
