Precise Biometrics‘ Precise BioMatch Mobile fingerprint biometrics technology has been incorporated into a new smartphone from a China-based brand, the company has announced. As in so many other cases, the integration comes by way of partner sensor maker FPC.
In a press release, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson said his team is “pleased that the vendor has chosen to integrate Precise BioMatch Mobile in an additional smartphone model.” While the vendor went unnamed in the statement, all signs indicate that it’s ZTE, with its new Axon Mini being the mobile device in question. The original Axon, which featured the same FPC sensor that the Axon Mini now uses, went on to win a major industry award, in part for its advanced biometric capabilities. (In addition to fingerprint scanning, the Axon also employed eye scanning functionality.)
The new integration should further bolster Precise Biometrics’ reputation in the fingerprint sensor software business, with its longstanding partnership with FPC having led to many high-profile integrations. And as the Android Pay mPayment platform continues to roll out around the globe, the Android-based device’s biometric authentication capabilities could prove increasingly valuable to consumers, with the end result possibly being even more demand for Precise Biometrics technology.
