Precise Biometrics is looking for a new R&D Director. The search has been prompted by the resignation of Rutger Petersson, who has been with the company for a decade but has now taken a position as Verisure Innovation’s Analytics & Insight Manager.
Commenting in a statement, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson credited Petersson as “a valuable and appreciated coworker” and congratulated him on his new assignment. Persson also announced the hunt for Precise Biometrics’ next R&D head, asserting that the chosen candidate “will have an instrumental role in shaping the company to take the next step in the fast-growing biometrics market.”
While Precise Biometrics has firmly established itself as a leading provider of biometric fingerprint software in the mobile market, the company has lately sought to shore up its technological expertise with the acquisition of liveness detection specialist NexID. Meanwhile, it has also sought to expand into new market areas, revealing in its Q1 update that it is exploring biometric payment cards. All of which points to the continuing and perhaps growing importance of R&D to the company as it seeks to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive biometric identity industry.
