Oppo is back with another new smartphone using biometric technology from Fingerprint Cards and Precise Biometrics. The Oppo A59s features an FPC1245 sensor running Precise BioMatch Mobile, Precise Biometrics’ algorithm software for mobile devices.
It’s a biometric setup that seems to appeal to Oppo, which used the same sensor and software for previous devices including the R9 and R9+, the F1 Plus, and, most recently, the F1s. As such it has become one of the repeat customers that has helped to fuel FPC and Precise Biometrics revenue streams.
The latest integration also helps to illustrate a market trend that has seen biometric fingerprint sensors become standard features on newer smartphones, with at least one market research firm predicting that they’ll be on virtually all smartphones by the end of 2018.
