NextGate has launched a new system designed to facilitate the exchange of clinical patient data between healthcare providers. Called NextGate XDS Registry & Repository, the system is designed to enable such transmissions even between different kinds of systems and data types.
It’s designed to link records to the correct patient via NextGate’s Enterprise Master Patient Index system, and it works alongside a web-based document viewer based on Security Assertion Markup Language. NextGate says the new solution also builds on its biometric patient identification technology, allowing for greater accuracy in patient records-keeping and data management.
In a statement announcing the new solution, NextGate CEO Andy Aroditis explained, “With our clinical document exchange product, organizations can control the exchange of clinical information, meaning only certain documents stored within the XDS Registry & Repository can be exchanged based on patient and care giver criteria.”
The company says its solution has already been launched with one regional health information organization managing over 142 million clinical documents, and given the growing use of electronic patient health records—and biometric patient identification—it could soon see more deployments.
