NEXT Biometrics plans to show off its latest technology at the upcoming Cartes Secure Connexions event in Paris. The event will take place November 17th to 19th, and NEXT will be at Booth K-053.
In a statement, NEXT CEO Tore Etholm-Idsoe suggested that the company plans to demonstrate integrations of its sensors in “products targeting payments, governmental markets and other higher-end, quality critical applications.” The company’s flagship showcase at the event will be a Nexus smartphone concept in which a 12mm by 17mm sensor is embedded in the back of the device, a design intended to make sensor authentication more convenient. But the company will also be showing off a new, customer-designed product, according to NEXT VP Radek Matyasek, who explained that this integration is “targeting secure payment transactions.”
That’s a smart area of focus, given the increasing prominence of mPayment platforms like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Android Pay. Of course, NEXT’s new line of ultra-thin sensors have a wide range of potential applications, and the company’s decision to demonstrate various examples is a prudent one that could pay off in helping to attract further high-profile investment into the company in the wake of the company’s recent dealings with Greenbridge Partners, a major Swedish investment company.
