Today, workplace management solutions provider Asure Software announced the release of a new time and attendance tracker powered by biometrics. In terms of staff and payroll management, biometric solutions add efficiency and trust. Requiring a biometric factor for employee clock in procedures cuts down on fraudulent behavior like buddy-punching (when a staff member signs in for an absent friend) and also reduces administrative cost by eliminating access cards which can be lost or stolen.
Called the AsureForce AirClock, the company’s new solution combines facial recognition with manual PIN entry in a wall-mounted panel. Users first punch in their PIN, then stand in the camera’s crosshairs to have their face image captured and compared to the stored biometric templates.
If the face presented doesn’t match, rather than denying the employee punched-in status, a supervisor is alerted via email and has the choice to approve or deny the sign-in.
Steven Rodriguez, COOP at Asure Software comments: “AsureForce AirClock incorporates facial recognition technology that provides the highest level of security against buddy punching to reduce time fraud, and its cloud-based software enables the devices to be used from almost any location, anywhere with an Internet connection. Once users register, they can punch in from any device in their organization’s system, regardless of location.”
In the realm of time and attendance, it is not often reported on FindBiometrics that a biometrics are being incorporated as a second factor to a PIN, even though they are quite frequently multi-factor solutions. Last week, Neurotechnology introduced its newest time and attendance software, NCheck Bio Attendance 2.1, which uses a combination of face and fingerprint biometrics to bring streamlined accountability to the workplace.
