NEXT Biometrics says it received a number of order in May for its new fingerprint sensor modules. The orders came from clients in a number of regions: Europe, Asia, and the US.
The modules ordered were NB-3010, NB-2020, and NB-1011. All of these are based on the same sensor, but have been fitted to specialize in specific markets; and they all are designed to replace the first generation NB-1010 module, an expansion of offerings aiming to take greater advantage of a range of market opportunities. Speaking in a press release, NEXT Biometrics CEO Tore Etholm-Idsøe pointed to the new opportunities opening up to the company with these new modules, asserting, “Having expanded our offering from 1 to 6 sensor modules we now meet the markets demand for various interfaces, colors and physical dimensions.”
It is indeed an encouraging trend for the company, which is emerging from Q1 losses accrued, in part, from R&D seeking to improve its product line. It would seem that those investments are starting to pay off, especially with the larger order that came in at the end of May. And as Windows 10 makes its way to market release, compatible NEXT technology could further help to shore up sales.
